VidReview – Logic Keyboard for Final Cut Pro & After Effects
I’m jealous. Jealous of people who only seem to have to know one app, and know it extremely well. Whether you’re an illustrator user, a Final Cut Pro user, or anyone who works on a single application almost exclusively on a daily basis, you probably know the hotkey combinations of your application like the back of your hand. Me on the other hand, knows about three jillion different apps, some of them inside and out, others only peripherally, but few of them can I honestly say that I know the majority of keyboard shortcuts for. I tend to use the menuing systems inside the applications far more than I do the hotkeys in many situations, and I do know that this slows down my workflow. This is of course, not the case with applications I use all the time like Photoshop, but what tends to happen with me is I will accidentally use hotkey combinations from other applications while inside of another.
New iPhone aka iPhone 5,1 Rumor – Fall 2012 with LTE and?
Found via the site iMore we can’t substantiate any of this, but it goes along with what we have heard from reliable sources
QuickLook – Mac Only Quality Only, Twelve South
One of the things I fear as Apple becomes more of a consumer oriented company than at any time in their history, is their roots in the design and publishing community. When it comes to the UI of many Mac apps, and products made for Apple computers and iDevices, one thing becomes clear if you’ve been around a while; there are those who love their Apple gear, and those who love what Apple has helped to define for decades now. Put simply, that’s design that facilitates function, not just for design’s sake. They say:
Twelve South is here to create beautifully designed accessories exclusively for Apple computers. We know Mac users. We are Mac users. We feel it’s time to stop settling for PC accessories that are painted white and passed off as “Mac compatible.” Our company is here to focus on Apple accessories exclusively.
Apple’s New iPad Unboxing and First Look / Impressions (UPDATED)
EDIT: I have had a few days now to play with this, and my thoughts are as follows, original post is below.
First, I am imprsssed with the Retina Display. As I type this on my gorgeous 17″ Macbook Pro display, I notice I can actually see pixels if I really make the attempt. On the new iPad, I would need a magnifying glass. Yes, the display is that nice. Compared to other tablets, there is, once again, no contender.
Customer Service Watch – Current A++ Example: ZAGG
When I hear things like this, I just have to pass it along. From the ZAGG site. All customer service should be this good. I pray that God blesses them with 5 new ZAGGFolio sales for every one they’ve had to replace due to a manufacturing issue. At their cost.
Just spoke with Zagg support. Outstanding. They are aware of the clasp issues and told me they are sending out redesigned Zaggfolios soon, free of charge. She told me to simply hang on to the existing one until then. Surprisingly she didn’t say I’d have to return in after receiving the new unit, but directed me to throw it out. Great job, Zagg! You’ve won a customer for life.
It’s not always fun, but standing behind your product 110% is a rare thing these days. Kudos ZAGG!
Made in USA – That Means Something – Grove Products
Wow these people know how to make beautiful things. They are also making them in the USA, which would have been no big deal if said 30 years ago. These days? It’s downright amazing, and the folks at Grove are making beautiful things up in the Northwest corner of these United States, Oregon to be more specific. The Grove products for iPhone, iPad, and MacBooks in Bamboo, leather, and felt use premium materials, a dash of creativity, and a design sensibility that will mesh perfectly with your iDevice or MacBook Pro. I personally want to get our logotype for my 17″ in bamboo, just hope I can still put my Speck clear case on over top of it.
Check out the video below of the bamboo and wool iPad case and go to the Grove site for more info. We hope to review some of their stuff soon.
ZaggFOLIO – Actually Look Worthy? Possibly…..
Why? Why do we torture ourselves to talk about, get, video record, and write about products that make so may other people money and make us, um, tired? Why do we spend hours of our time doing all this when we could be making (a lot) more saying “Do you want fries with that?” Because we love you dear visitor, really we do.
Nah we’re just tech obsessed idiots. Plus we have a crush on the UPS chick. Don’t tell my wife though. More, so hit the jump.
New “New iPad” Cases, Gear & More 1st Look Roundup
Man I just never get tired of being totally repulsed by the name “new iPad”. I know it seems silly, but I think it’s a silly name, and a device so exceedingly cool should not have a silly name. That said, I thought I would go ahead and look around for some of the best “new” gear out there for your new iPad, and maybe even throw in a little iPad to goodness while we’re at it. So let’s get the ball rolling with most obvious choice, that being cases and covers for the “new iPad”.
1st up, we have the wonderful Case-Mate. See, they make cases, and they “made” to your iThingy or other beeping and squawking doodad. They’ve been into this game for a while, and generally make some decent products. A few we found interesting enough to shamelessly promote our lovely site without having them in our eager little hands just yet, are:
