Mac OS X Lion Ships for $29.99 in July

 .

Right here after my birthday I am sure. Mac OS X 10.7 Lion will go on sale in July via the Mac App Store (only) for US$29.99.  I have been using OS X Lion for a while now and there is a lot to like, and some things to get used to. Shifting the iOS metaphor to the desktop seems to have its’ strengths and weaknesses, but I will reserve full judgment until the final release and when I see how well it integrates with iOS5 on my iPads and iPhones.

Lion will be available only in the Mac App Store. It will be a 4 GB download, no rebooting necessary (to install it we assume), and you can use it on all personally authorized Macs for the one fee. We are wondering whether there will be a DVD version available, but if not I know the Hackintosh community will fill in the blanks. $29.99 in July with developer’s preview available today. I know where I’m headed to.
