A Look at the Designs of Dieter Rams

A man who almost singlehandedly defined the “Less is More” industrial design philosophy that Apple and Jon Ive so closely follow, Dieter Rams worked for Braun, the consumer products company for more than four decades. In that time his design sense and the products that came from it ate legendary in I.D. circles. To consumers the name may not mean much but the products he has created remain timeless in many respects, and for some the usability factor has ensured his creations have very long shelf lives.
Take a look at some of his work.
The above video is an excerpt of an exhibition walkthrough combined with an interview with the Co-curator of the exhibition and Head of Exhibitions of the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt, Prof. Dr. Klaus Klemp. In this excerpt, he focuses on the Design language of the Braun product design.
Here is the full 24 minute version if you can’t get enough of the Dieter.
